Managing our growth and performance over the next 15 years will require operational expertise, leadership and experienced governance oversight. In 2015, MDE’s shareholder appointed new Board members that bring relevant and deep industry experience. Members of City Council continue to sit on the Board providing shareholder oversight and knowledge of city planning and priorities.
Jack Heath, Chair (1,2,3)
Deputy Mayor of the City of Markham and serves on York Region Council and numerous Boards including
the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.
Mary Ellen Richardson (1,3)
Ms. Richardson has held executive positions with the Canadian District Energy Association, the Ontario Power Authority, and
the Association of Major Power Consumers of Ontario.
Larry Doran (1)
Mr. Doran is President & CEO of Imperium Energy and previously held executive positions at Ontario Power Generation and served as President & CEO of Peterborough Utilities.
Lou Colangelo (1)
Mr. Colangelo is General Manager of Toromont Energy and has worked in the power industry for over 30 years with expertise in cogeneration and district energy development.
Amanda Collucci (2)
Ward 6 Councillor for the City of Markham following over 20 years of business experience in IT industry including IBM. ACCE Award winning entrepreneur and 2015 RBC Top 25 Immigrant Award Winner.
Louie Shoukas, Vice Chair (1,2)
Mr. Shoukas is chair of the Finance and Audit Committee and worked in the power industry for over 22 years holding senior engineering, operations and nance positions.
Frank Scarpitti
Mayor of the City of Markham and serves on York Region Council
and numerous Boards including Powerstream and York Region Police Services.
Michael Lio (2,3)
Mr. Lio is Principle of Lio & Associates and has served on the boards of the Canadian Energy E ciency Alliance, the TSSA, and the Electrical Safety Authority.
Karen Rea (1)
Ward 4 Councillor for Markham with previous career experience in the nancial sector and a real estate license.
