Markham District Energy’s President & CEO, Bruce Ander, is a past chair of the International District Energy Association and previously held the position of chair of the Canadian District Energy Association prior to leading its merger with the International District Energy Association in 2012.
Markham District Energy’s Chief Operating Officer, Peter Ronson, currently represents the interests of district energy and combined heat and power developers on the Board of the Association of Power Producers of Ontario.
Another area of leadership is Markham District Energy’s mentoring of municipalities looking to advance the development of district energy and combined heat and power.
Considered by many as the leading Canadian example of municipal district energy development, Markham District Energy has provided seminars and tours to numerous communities and industry groups.
Markham District Energy also demonstrates leadership with its support of post-secondary institutions.
Markham District Energy is regularly asked to speak to students studying in community energy programs and supports upcoming engineering and plant operations graduates with work-term placements.
Markham District Energy’s Chief Operating Engineer, Craig Graham, is current chair of the Advisory Committee for the Operating Engineers Program at Cambrian College in Sudbury, Ontario and a member of the Advisory Committee for the Operating Engineers Program at Durham College in Oshawa, Ontario.
